5 Things to Look for When Selecting Your Franchise Consultant

You’ve done your research and decided to seek the assistance of a professional franchise consultant.

You’ve decided such a professional can:

  • Cut down on your personal research time
  • Help you better understand the best types of franchises for you
  • Coach you throughout the process
  • Avoid common and not-so-common franchise investment mistakes

1. Should be a Certified Franchise Executive (CFE)

Whether you choose me or another franchise consultant to work with, I encourage you to work with only those individuals who carry the CFE designation – Certified Franchise Executive. This is the highest designation and recognition one can receive as a franchising executive. Why work with someone who hasn’t earned the right to help you?

2. Should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the franchise industry

3. Franchise Experience

Should have experience as a franchisee, working for a franchisor, and/or both – I have worked directly for franchisees and franchisors for the past 25 years. Often consultants have worked for one or the other. When you work with me, I can specifically relate and communicate what it’s like to be on either side of the franchising fence.

4. Visibility in the Franchise Industry

Should be regularly quoted in franchise publications, talk shows, conferences, etc. – I’m a regular guest speaker at outplacement services, career networking events, job fairs, recruiting events, etc. across the U.S.

5. A Place to Physically or Virtually Meet

Should have a physical office to meet with clients – While my main office is located in Minnetonka, Minnesota, I have satellite offices available throughout the U.S. in every major city. During the pandemic I have all the resources to virtually manage the key steps in your franchise investment journey.
